After successful completion of the Healthcare Industry certificate, students will be able to:

  • Articulate and identify the components that structure the American healthcare system, and the policy, economic, and societal forces that shape healthcare delivery
  • Discuss current issues within the American healthcare system, including public health, quality of health care, heath reform, payment mechanisms, and consumerism
  • Describe and navigate the clinical environment using accurate medical terminology and understanding of basic pathophysiology
  • Explore the healthcare laws, regulations, statutes, policy guidance and enforcement initiatives that serve as a framework for healthcare compliance
  • Apply appropriate theories of risk management, risk communication, decision management, and crisis management in the life sciences industry to anticipate and avoid risk and hazards, and manage those that arise in a holistic manner
  • Learn about the global and domestic regulatory landscape governing regulated industries, particularly in the life sciences

  • MHI 402 Introduction to Clinical Thinking
  • HC_COM 410 Healthcare Regulatory Environment
  • MSRC 435 Risk and Decision Management or MSRC 401 Quality Systems
